"Wretch Like Me"

I've been asked what my favorite bible verse is and why; Here is my answer. (Even though it's not just one verse.)

"A Psalm of David. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows." Psalm 23:1-6

In the summer of 2016, the Freeman family picked up and moved from Oregon to Las Vegas for a one year adventure to forge our new family in the desert. (If you'd like to read more about our move and adoption story you can read more in a previous blog HERE.)

Since then we've built a beautiful new life (grounded by Jesus) in Arizona. Our son is writing his first screenplay and directing his first music video, our new son is doing well and attending ASU in the fall, and our daughter is about to embark on her first feature length film acting role in, "Wretch Like Me."

You might ask: "Wait a minute - that's the name of this blog post, too. What does it have to do with anything?" Well, it's because I'm currently writing a new screenplay called - you guessed it - Wretch Like Me. It will be produced under the Red Braille Films banner later this year.

The simple truth is that God led to this moment. He truly is my shepherd and I do not want. He made me lay down in green pastures and led me beside still waters. He restored my soul and led me in the path of righteousness for His name's sake. I've walked through valleys filled with dark shadows but it's now easier than ever to not fear evil because He is with me. His word comforts me and I know that He's prepared a table before me in the presence of my enemies. He's anointed my head with oil and my cup truly overflows.

I'll be writing more frequent blogs (every other week) to give you a peek into the process of filmmaking, how this story came to be, and how Jesus inspired every second of the past seven years leading to this moment.

To start - here is the log line for the feature film, "Wretch Like Me."

Wretch Like Me - (Thriller) An aging father is reunited with his estranged daughter and goes on a journey to fight his demons from passing on to the next generation. I look forward to sharing all of the good, the bad, and the ugly that goes into making a feature length film; It will be the first one I've made in a decade. It makes it all so much easier knowing I'm doing it all for the right reasons.

We'll share more information as it becomes available. Right now it is in the writing stage and will be for the next few months. Pre-Production will start over the summer.

One foot in front of the other; always following His lead.
